Formed in Atlanta, Georgia, in 1998, Package emerged from the American underground with a clear goal: to create music that was heavy, direct and impossible to ignore. Their 2003 album Wartorn captures that attitude in a compact collection of ten tracks built around the aggressive spirit of early-2000s nu metal. Rather than stretching its ideas across long compositions, Wartorn moves quickly and keeps the pressure high. Most songs remain under four minutes, giving the record a focused and confrontational character. The opening track, “Ammunition,” immediately establishes the album’s militant atmosphere, while titles such as “Snap,” “All Hell” and “Rage” reflect the tension and hostility running through the release.

Package belonged to the heavier side of the Atlanta nu metal scene. Their sound emphasized forceful guitar work, hard rhythms and an unapologetically raw approach that matched the darker mood of the genre. At the same time, the album retained the direct songwriting and memorable structures that made early nu metal accessible to listeners beyond traditional heavy music audiences. Tracks including “As Seen On TV,” “Instigator” and “Step Off” maintain the album’s fast-moving energy, while “Headlock” and “Straight Up Rude Shit” push its rebellious attitude even further. The closing song, “Ground Zero,” is the longest track on the record and gives Wartorn a heavier, more extended finale after a sequence of short and aggressive cuts.

Originally released independently on CD, Wartorn later became available through digital music services, allowing a new generation of listeners to discover this obscure Atlanta release. Although Package never reached the mainstream visibility of the biggest nu metal bands of the era, the album remains an interesting artifact from a period when local American scenes produced countless overlooked heavy records outside major-label attention. For fans searching beyond well-known names such as Korn, Limp Bizkit, Mudvayne and early-era Slipknot, Wartorn offers another glimpse into the underground side of 2000s nu metal. Its concise songwriting, hostile atmosphere and uncompromising energy make Package a band worth revisiting for collectors and listeners interested in rare alternative metal releases.
