Xtreme Faith were an underground Christian rapcore band from Maipú, Santiago, Chile. Their surviving 1999 recording, Isaías 53, is commonly circulated as a full album, although an archival Chilean Christian rock source identifies it as the group’s demo. The release contains ten tracks and preserves a rare example of late-1990s Chilean rap metal created far beyond the country’s mainstream rock industry.
The band’s musical style was described as rapcore, placing Xtreme Faith within the crossover territory between heavy rock, metal and hip-hop. Their lineup included vocalists Eric Phillips and Tatan Bass, guitarists Pablo Cavieres and Víctor Alvarez, percussionist Gabriel Phillips, bassist Cesar Arias and drummer Jairo Valdés. Heber Vega was credited as the group’s manager.
Isaías 53 explores social, personal and spiritual subjects rather than relying only on abstract religious language. According to the surviving band profile, Xtreme Faith wrote about everyday life, destructive habits, addiction and the ways faith in God helped people confront those struggles. Song titles such as “No A La Violencia,” “Adicto,” “Marioneta” and “Dime Donde Va A Parar” reinforce the record’s concern with violence, dependency, manipulation and uncertain consequences.
“Mapuche” also gives the track list a distinctly Chilean cultural reference, while “Ni Yo Te Condeno” and the title track connect the album more directly with ideas of forgiveness, redemption and sacrifice. The album title refers to Isaiah 53, a biblical chapter traditionally associated in Christianity with suffering, salvation and spiritual restoration.
One of the best-remembered songs from the release is “Choco Flo.” A music video for the track was recorded in 1999, and the song was reportedly played on Stereonet, a program broadcast by Chile’s Radio Armonía. These appearances helped the band reach listeners within the country’s Christian alternative music community, even though Xtreme Faith remained far from major-label visibility.
After the original project ended, the musicians reportedly continued under the name X.T.R.I.M. Some members later formed Dawan and participated in the song “Chico malo.” Today, Isaías 53 survives mainly through independent archives, collectors and fan uploads dedicated to forgotten Chilean metal.
For listeners exploring rare nu metal, rapcore and Christian alternative music from South America, Isaías 53 is an important underground document. Its socially aware themes, regional identity and direct spiritual conviction make Xtreme Faith a distinctive name from Chile’s late-1990s heavy music scene.
